Victoria Brook: Artist Statement

Exhibiting to a worldwide audience, buyers have come from Italy, America
and Denmark to purchase or commission pieces of her work.  Currently
exhibiting back in her home town of Leeds; Victoria’s work is presented
alongside the likes of Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali and other modern masters.

"We live in a modern society surrounded by modern fabrications,
innovative structures and creative people. Colours, designs and modern
forms exist when you flip open a magazine, when you see a new building
being built or the way the light pours in through a window. Applying small
elements from these sources is where the uniqueness comes in."

Although it's very difficult to put into words what inspires me and what
makes me think about the work I'm going to try and create, I can only
say it comes from something very small. The reason I have to paint is far
more significant and the transition each painting takes until the journey is
complete.  The paintings are far more an emotive response to something
than an adaptation of what is captured by the eye.

I believe the value meaning and integrity of the artwork is how it is
perceived in the imagination of the viewer rather than the hand that
paints it."
